This Moai was created in 1990 by a delegation of sculptors from the island, using local peperino stone. It is the only Moai in the world outside of Easter Island to have been crafted using traditional techniques. The village is easily accessible from Rome in about an hour and a half by car, following the A1 highway and exiting at Orte. From there, a short drive through the scenic roads of Tuscia will lead you to your destination. Alternatively, you can take a train to Orte station and then continue with a local bus.
