Prato Giardino is located in a privileged position, next to the city walls in the northern part of the historic center of Viterbo. Its proximity to the heart of the city makes it easily accessible on foot for those exploring the historic center.

A dive into history

The roots of Prato Giardino date back to the 14th century when the area was connected to the fortress built by Cardinal Egidio Albornoz. In the following centuries, the garden changed hands several times, belonging to noble families such as the Monaldeschi and the Gatti. Since 1847, the park has been managed by the Municipality of Viterbo, which opened it to the public in 1855, transforming it into the green space we admire today.
